Pallet Flow Rack in Baltimore, Maryland
Pallet Flow Rack in Baltimore, MD serves warehouses with very different load profiles across the metro area. A pallet flow rack system separates loading from picking and advances pallets on controlled gravity tracks. It can support first-in, first-out rotation without moving newer loads aside. We size lane depth, rollers, and braking to your pallet range and movement data, with a free layout showing both access aisles and usable positions. Food distribution around the port needs lot rotation even when inbound pallets arrive in batches. Pallet flow can present the first received load at a separate pick face, but pallet bottom-board condition and a clear replenishment aisle decide whether that rotation works in practice. Compare the system against your current inventory and future reserve needs before deciding where it belongs in the building.
Why Baltimore Warehouses Work With Us
A building in Curtis Bay may need room for inbound container batches while a Locust Point operation faces a tighter existing footprint. Neither should use the receiving floor as permanent reserve storage. Plan the rack footprint against the actual columns, dock approaches, and working height rather than the leased square footage alone.
We look at stock rotation and pallet condition together. FIFO cannot help if broken bottom boards stop a load halfway down a lane. The design checks load weights, support surfaces, lane depth, temperature, and the replenishment space at the high end. More lanes may provide better SKU access than a few very deep runs. We explain that tradeoff in the position plan and quote rollers, brakes, separators, frames, and protection as defined components. Installation partners coordinate loaded travel checks and the agreed setup, so the proposal is based on the pallets you handle rather than an ideal sample. We discuss future inventory changes before finalizing the proposed arrangement and its component list.
How Pallet Flow Rack Works
Load end
Pallets enter at the high end of the lane. Each new pallet stages behind the one before it, so put-away is a single move made from the load-side aisle.
Gravity conveyor
Full-width rollers or skate-wheel tracks, set on a pitch calculated for the pallet weight, carry loads forward under control rather than free rolling.
Braking and separation
Brake rollers and pallet separators regulate travel and stop pallets from bunching, protecting both the product and the structure underneath it.
Pick end
Pickers work a face of first-in pallets. Pull one and the next indexes forward automatically, so the pick aisle stays organized without anyone re-facing stock.

Where It Fits Best
What We Need to Design It
- Do you need strict pallet-level FIFO, or is lane-level rotation enough?
- How many pallets per SKU move through in a typical week?
- What's the pallet weight range, and what condition are pallets usually in?
- How deep can lanes run in your footprint?
- Is the storage area ambient, cooler, or freezer?
What a Pallet Flow Rack Project Includes
Flow racking is engineered per lane, not pulled off a shelf. Pallet weight, deck condition, bottom-board orientation, and desired lane depth all drive the roller or wheel selection and the pitch calculation, so the first step is pinning down exactly what's moving through the lane.
From there we set lane count and depth against your throughput. Fewer, deeper lanes maximize storage; more, shallower lanes give the pick face more SKU variety. Both versions get modeled with position counts so the tradeoff is visible before you buy, not learned after.
The itemized quote covers frames, beams, rail and roller assemblies, brakes, entry and exit guides, and guarding. At installation installation partners sets pitch, tests loaded travel in every lane, and tunes brakes before the system goes live.
Afterward you have documented capacities, a lane map your team can hand to new hires, and a local contact for brake rollers and wheels as the system racks up cycles.
Reserve the load and pick aisles in the same drawing as the storage lanes. Those two faces are part of the system footprint, not spare floor to recover afterward. Document acceptable pallets, loading weights, and the replenishment sequence so rotation and travel can be checked against the finished configuration.

Other Rack Systems We Supply
Pallet Rack
Every pallet reachable, every time. The baseline we size everything else against.
Pushback Rack
Two to six pallets deep from one aisle, without giving up much reach.
Carton Flow Rack
Cases advance to the picker instead of the picker hunting for cases.
Cantilever Rack
Arms with nothing in front of them, built for lumber, pipe, and anything a pallet can't hold.
Drive-In Rack
No aisles. The lift truck enters the structure, and the floor holds more pallets in the allotted storage footprint.
